Celiac Grief Ceremony & Workshop
A guided LIVE 60-minute virtual workshop to collectively grieve the losses of a gluten-filled life through a collaborative art/writing exercise. This art will be delivered to you 48-hours after the call (no art supplies needed, just a pen & paper).
Hosted over zoom on Sunday, 5/18/25 at 7pm EST/4pm PST
There’s an unmarked grave in your past.
It’s where the version of you who could say “yes” to spontaneous meals, travel without fear, or enjoy a slice of birthday cake without hesitation is buried.
Grief for this loss doesn’t disappear—it lurks.
It lurks in the envy of watching others eat freely.
It lurks in the pang of passing a bakery.
It lurks in the loneliness of explaining, again, why you can’t “just eat around the crust.”
You don’t have to carry this grief alone.
In the Celiac Community Grief Ceremony & Workshop, you'll name, express, and share the burden of it with other celiacs who just get it.
By the end, you’ll feel seen.
The rock in your gut? Lighter.
The loneliness? Softened.
Who is this ceremony for?

Answers to FAQs
This is for adults only.
This is a live, guided virtual workshop where celiacs come together to collectively grieve the losses that come with a celiac diagnosis. Through writing, reflection, and collaborative art, we’ll honor the “death” of our pre-celiac selves and the freedoms we’ve lost, while finding solidarity in a community that understands.
Anyone diagnosed with celiac disease—whether yesterday or decades ago—who feels the weight of unprocessed grief and wants an understanding community to witness it.
Participation is required. This is a collaborative ceremony, and your voice, words, or art will contribute to the collective piece we create.
Parts of the ceremony involve holding up written responses, symbols, or art to your camera, which will be woven into a digital collage for all attendees. You’re welcome to angle your camera away from your face if that feels safer.
Absolutely! This isn’t about skill—it’s about expression. Scribbles, single words, or even a raised hand to signal solidarity are all valid contributions.
Tears are welcome. Grief is messy, and this is a safe space to feel it fully. You’ll be surrounded by people who understand the unique pain of living with celiac.
While we’re confronting heavy emotions, the goal is release, not despair.
I am testing this format as a pilot project. While future workshops aren’t off the table, I have no plans to offer this specific ceremon again.
Select the $9 equity pricing tier if finances are tight or if you hold a marginalized identity (or both!). No questions asked. If you need it you need it.
There will be a recording that I will use to assemble/finalize the collaborative art piece after the call, but the recording will not be distributed to participants (or anyone but me or my team).
I am a dietitian who's had training around grief and food, and grief and body image. I am also a celiac peer but I am not a therapist. This isn’t a substitute for therapy—it’s a community ritual to validate your experience and help you feel less alone.
Yes! Grief doesn’t expire. Many celiacs suppress their pain for years. This ceremony is for anyone ready to finally acknowledge and share the weight of the loss of their pre-celiac selves.
All sales are final, as this is a one-time event with limited spots.
